I'm in Las Vegas!!!

I'm too exhausted to blog, but I got here fine. It was a long day of travel. I won't have computer access until tomorrow night.

Quickie before I leave for Las Vegas

This is a quickie post because I'm super busy getting ready to go to Las Vegas tomorrow. Yay! After the stress of getting everything in order for things to run smoothly while I'm gone, I really need a vacation! I'm all packed and now I just have to finish the schedule for CUP to follow. It has all the stuff that needs to be done with the kids and alarms for everything. All meds, drop-offs and pick-ups, etc. Not an easy task to get that all in his calendar.

Shauna came home from school, feeling sick today. She seems to be better now, so it might just have been her ADHD meds. She doesn't take them on the weekends and I think her body has to get used to them all over again on Mondays. I hope she isn't sick. I hope I'm not sick. My nose was running this morning and I've been sneezing. I feel tired and sick to my stomach, but I'm hoping it is just nerves. I hate to travel by myself and I always get really nervous. I'm not afraid of flying or anything, just afraid of being by myself in big, crowded airports!

I got some great deals at Walgreens today, when I dropped Drew off for his first day of work after surgery. I got a hair color kit for Hannah, 4 tubes of toothpase, two toothbrushes and two boxes of Kleenex with lotion for $1.35, including tax!!! I wish I could say the same for Walmart, where I spent over $300. Ugh.

I'm not sure what the internet/computer situation will be in Las Vegas. I'm hoping the hotel has one somewhere that guests can use, but I'm not sure. If not, I'll have to try to use Mike's laptop in the evenings, if we have an internet connection. If not, I won't be back to blog until next Sunday.

Hmm, wonder if I need these?

I was looking through the medicine cabinet to try and find out when a prescription of Hannah's expires. I found three prescription information sheets from January of 2002! I wonder if I still need them? I really can't figure out where they came from because I have cleaned that cabinet out numerous times since then. The only thing I can figure is they were on the top shelf, which I don't really use, and someone moved them down or they fell down. Well, at least it was only the information sheets and not the actual medicine!

Illness

Ugh! Everyone is getting sick and I'm terrified that I will be next and will be sick in Las Vegas. I already fought off one cold, which started a few days after we returned from PA. Now Steven and Luke are very sick. CUP bought me some Lysol spray on the way home from dropping Mike off at the airport and I went nuts and sprayed pretty much everything in the house. Shauna said the only thing I missed was the dog! I was spraying the powder room and I could hear Alex and Shauna laughing at me and talking about how all they could hear was non-stop spraying sounds.

I lightened Alex's hair today and I'm really anxious to see how it came out. He is rinsing it out now. He wanted a warmer brown color instead of his natural black. All of his highlights had been cut off when he got his short '50's cut for "Father of the Bride". There will probably be pictures added later today.

I got a haircut yesterday and it came out pretty nice. I also colored mine today, to cover the gray. Back to organizing the house so things don't fall apart while I'm gone!

Walgreens Savings Spree

I would call it a shopping spree, but since I saved much more than I spent, I thought I should refer to it as a savings spree! I got only things we use and need and I spent $68.31, including tax. With coupons and Drew's employee discount, I saved a total of $140.97, which comes out to just about 67% off everything!!!!! I should have saved $13 more, but I messed up on a couple of things that qualified for Register Rewards, but I'm still really happy.

Ooooops, I did it again

A few days ago, I started another fire in the kitchen. Ugh! I only buy pop tarts about twice a year now, much to the dismay of my children, who love them. I had coupons for them that were expiring, so I bought a few packages as a back to school breakfast treat. I was toasting one of them in the toaster oven and a piece broke off. It fell to the bottom, directly onto the heating element and started to burn. I unplugged the oven, but left it closed, hoping to smother the fire. Um, that wasn't working! The fire was growing bigger. I was a getting little nervous and thinking about making some pink lemonade for the firemen, but I stayed calm and let it burn itself out, which took about 2 minutes. Luckily I was able to take the oven apart and clean all the pieces that got burned and it is none the worse for wear, but it was yet another close call.
