I guess that huge Italian dinner was too much for these two!

Did someone say Mom????
It is very quiet in the house, which is highly unusual! I thought I heard someone say a very faint "mom", several times. The kids have early dismissal today, so I thought maybe Hannah and Alex were home and one of them was calling me from outside. Nope, turns out it was only Wrigley snoring!!! He really is much more talented when he's asleep than when he's awake!

Ugh!
Alex, Hannah and Shauna are outside, on the back deck, giving the dog a bath. There is a huge commotion, tons of screaming and arguing. First of all, Alex found an open can of soup in the can cabinet. Apparently he had opened it at some point, decided not to make it, covered it with tin foil and put it back in the cabinet. It was moldy (I KNEW something smelled bad over there, but I couldn't figure out what it was), of course, so he took it out and put it on the back deck. I knew nothing about all of this at the time. He planned to go inside, get shoes on and take it out to the garbage can. He forgot to do this and left it outside. Wrigley found it and ate it and then threw up. He now smells like moldy soup (or poop, according to Hannah).
So, now they are giving him a bath. Wrigley HATES getting a bath, so he is freaking out, along with the kids. So far, he has escaped the deck at least once and gotten back into the house, soaking wet, twice. I cannot count how many times the kids have yelled at each other in the last 20 minutes, but I think they may have set a new record.

Oooops!
Well, I was just talking to Luke's best friend, Stephen B., about the dog and I realized that we forgot all about the dog's first birthday. It was on September 9th and while I remembered that was the birthday of one of the friends that fixed Mike and I up to go on a date in 1980, I totally forgot that it is also Wrigley's birthday.
Now I'm not a person to care too much about pet's birthdays, other than to mention them to the kids, but I'm sure the younger kids will be mad at me for not remembering. I kept thinking that because we got him on November 9th, that that was his birthday.
So Happy Belated Birthday Wrigley! (I'm sure he reads my blog. I figure he must have some hidden talents and he is just pretending to be the dumbest dog on the planet!)
Speaking of birthdays, Jack's due date is tomorrow. Yes, weird, I know, but I still celebrate the bio kids due dates. I would celebrate the adopted kids due dates, if I knew what they were. I do celebrate October 20th because it is not only the date my baby brother was born and died, but it was also the day that Alex's birthmom, Elizabeth, felt him move for the first time and stopped using drugs until after he was born. I usually only celebrate in my mind, so people don't actually know how weird I am, but since I'm blogging now, I figured I'd include that little tidbit.
I also celebrate firsts and lasts, which drives Mike crazy! For example, the first hug of the new year, the baby's first smile of the year, the last diaper change of the old year, first outing with Daddy, and so on. Luke apparently takes after me because he has been pointing out every first since he got his learner's permit and car. First time he drove in the rain, first time he drove on the highway, etc.

Dog or cat?
I guess this is what happens when you bring an eight week old puppy into a house with nine cats!
He can't figure out if he is canine or feline. Maybe he should have some counseling!

Our Puppy
Let's just say that our dog isn't the smartest one from his litter. You know how an infant gets it's days and nights mixed up? Well, our puppy had inside and outside mixed up. He thought that when you are taken outside, you sit quietly and look around. He also thought that as soon as you are taken inside, you immediately pee and poop on the floor. This went on until he was about 7 months old. I was so ready to give him back. One day, he finally figured out what he was supposed to do.
Well, anyway, last night I was the last one still downstairs. I decided to go to bed and turned the tv off. Wrigley immediately got up and went into his cage, even though he had been sound asleep on the couch. I hadn't even gotten up off the chair yet. It took me completely by surprise, maybe he is smarter than I thought!
